Twins

Hi All
My daughter has just found out she is expecting identical twins (sex not known yet). I am the lucky Grandmother purchasing the pram. Trouble is, I have no experience or knowledge of what to get. She would like a twin pram, side by side, that would make into a double buggie later. The trouble is, none of them will fit through the doors of the house. I have looked at the Cosatto twin buggie which appears to accommodate both children from birth. What do other members think? Any advice would be really appreciated. Many thanks, stressed Grandmother.....

Hi lucky Granny!!! Oh you will be busy! I have twins boy and girl they will be 2 in march, in our first year we purchased 4 pushchairs!! we bought a side by side mcclaren only to find when we unpacked it after the babies were born it wouldnt go in my car!! we then bought a mama and papas twin aria - what a load of rubbish - very plasticy not easy to put up and a nitemare as the twins got heavier!! we then had a side by side 3 wheeler great easy to push but couldnt get into any shops as it was massive!! we then had one which was back and front (similar to the jane powertwin) the one behind kept kicking the one in front! finally we purchased a phil and ted marvelous!!!!! expensive but easy to push (the only down side it has no room for your shopping!!) so my advise is to really have a good old look! take the car and make sure it fits, and also see what accessories they throw in as many are added extras! My friend has twins and she go the Jane powertwin and has no problems at all (this wouldnt fit in my car!! she has people carrier!) Good luck!!!!!!!!!!! Bev

Just wanted to add that you should make sure that it is as lightweight as possible. I have 6 month old twin girls and they have the Jane Powertwin. It is what I would call a lightweight pram (compared to many others I lifted whilst empty) but as my girls are getting bigger the pram is getting heavier and lifting it through doorways and up and down kerbs does sometimes put pressure on my wrists.

Best advise i was given when looking for prams was the out and about 3 wheeler - light weight - fits into most door ways can use from birth - because they are side by side they can see each other and amuse
each other - my twin girl and boy of 21 months still using it - the twin mum that told me about it was on 3rd pram in 1st year - a bit more than some but if it lasts until they dont need one its been well worth the money - congratulations and its great fun having twins - never a dull moment.
